Twilight Eyes

When it comes to a good sci-fi thriller, Koontz proves that he was and still is king. I've read alot of his newer books and I think the older ones are the real gems.
Pre-Odd Thomas, this book is about a carny named Slim Mackenzie who doesn't see dead people like Odd, but sees the inner demons of people. These are live demons tho, goblins, that disguise themselves as normal people. Only Slim and a few others can see through the human costume, and together they set out to destroy the goblin world. I just wish that he had continued with Slim Mackenzie stories the way he has with Odd Thomas.

One of my first Dean Koontz books read. A real show-stopper and heart-pounder! Still is one of his best, and I have read over a dozen of his books...

This is one of those books that left me wondering how exactly Koontz gets all of his stories. In a world that seems used-up in the storyline department, Koontz still produces his share of golden eggs. I try never to reveal spoilers so I am just going to say that if you enjoy monster stories then this one is for you.

This was a great adventurous story and I like the first person narrative that Koontz doesn't use much, but I agree with one reviewer that Koontz uses way too many adjectives for his storytelling. It's like he sits before his Thesaurus and says "Hmmm, I wonder how many ways I can describe this thing?". All of his books are like this and it can really try your patience. Is he trying to impress the reader at how knowledgable he is? Anyway, I enjoy reading his stories and he has a talent for surprising you with fantastic plot twists. My favorites are "Midnight", "Cold Fire" (not big on the ending), "Velocity" and "Strangers".
