Barack Obama's First Publication
We are avid supporters of Barack Obama and receiving this as a Christmas gift was wonderful. Interesting, fascinating, charismatic story about President-Elect Obama. A prized possession I will cherish for years to come. 2008-12-28

Dreams From my Father - A Story of race and Inheritance
To say Barack Obama's book, "Dreams from my Father" is an excellently written book, is an understatement. The book is interesting, funny and real. Once you start reading this book, you will find it extremely difficult to put it away. It puts a spell on you as you read it, equally as the writer Obama has on most people in real life who meets him or correspond with him in any way. Buy the book.
Some other books that I would recommend for your reading are "Fluctuating Life" by Joshua Spencer, "Contemporary Issues, Science, Africa and More" by Joshua Spencer, "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt, "The Manley Memoir" by Beverley Manley and "Quest for a Dream - A Life Committed to Progress" by Joyce Buchanan.

Dreams From my Father
This wonderful autobiography of President-Elect Barack Obama offers texture and insight into his remarkable background. The book is vey well written and engaging, very difficult to put down. His experiences are put out there without posturing or judgment. This is a must read for anyone who either admires him or feels curiosity about the soon-to-be most powerful person in the world. 2008-12-27

Maturity is an invaluble asset
President-Elect Obama's memoir about his childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood is a fascinating page turner. The subtitle could be "Beneath the veneers of color, religion, and education, we are all the same."
Readers who followed the presidential campaign and noticed its fortunate relative absence of race as a campaign theme will be surprised to find the depth of the author's struggle with his own racial identity in his younger years. As a white male naturalized American I had certainly heard of the difficulty of growing up black in America but found the account in this book particularly gripping, coming from a man who constantly strives to avoid the easy stereotype or scapegoating and instead chisels away with admirable earnestness at finding the original essence of our racial and multicultural issues.
After reading this book I come away calm and reassured that no actions by the new administration will be biased by some unresolved youthful conflict by the commander in chief.
