Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photographers
This is a great reference book that contains high quality photos and easy-to-follow instructions for organizing, editing and printing, with a heavy emphasis on editing. I highly recommend it for those who are not thoroughly proficient in Photoshop Elements. For the next edition, I'd like to see a chapter on the "fundamentals" of Photoshop, that explains when to use the various menu picks, which I find overwhelming as a casual user. This book is excellent at giving specific instructions, but it generally doesn't give the underlying philosophy as to why those instructions are given, so I'm forever having to go back to the book, rather than learning how to use the software more productively. 2008-12-21

NOT completely MAC friendly!
While I enjoy Scott Kelby and appreciate his vast knowledge. This latest book is not quite as Mac friendly as I'd like. I understand money, space and time constraints when it comes to publishing, however it's a real drag to get some of the information for the Mac, NOT listed in the book, from his web site. I appreciate that he has written the info at all,but it is difficult to read an on line chapter while you are on your computer actually PROCESSING your photos or trying to follow along in the non published chapters.
Just so you MAC users will know, BEFORE YOU BUY, not all information for MACs are published in this book. The missing chapters and information are on Scott's web site, so you'll either have to read them before hand, memorize 50 pages, or make notes/print out pages then start processing. If you have more than one computer I'd have the lap top for the missing chapters and use your Desktop unit for processing if it has the larger monitor.
It's great information and I really like the way Scott writes. I always have, but I'm only giving him 4 stars for the awkwardness of having to go to the website. It may not be a big deal for some, but I like to have the book next to my computer while I'm using my processing software.

Not useful if you have a Mac
I own an Imac. I've found this book, especially instructions related to printing, close to useless. Why is this so? Because the book is essentially designed for PC users, and details that a Mac user would need are offered as an afterthought. Which is to say they're cursory, poorly organized and often unclear. Photoshop Elements is complicated enough to learn without its capabilities being further muddied by someone who cannot think clearly or is basically uninterested in Macs. Many people, myself included, love using a Mac because we prefer not to spend hours tinkering with a computer (though I did that for years with a PC). This manual defeats the ultimate intent of owning a Mac. Someone needs to write a Photoshop Elements manual exclusively for Mac users. I regret having bought this one. 2008-11-16

A must have for Elements 6
I bought 2 other books about learning PSE6 and I wish I had bought this one first and I wouldn't have needed the other books. 2008-11-10

Best photo editing book I have found!
Kelby always produces a thorough and entertaining look at Photoshop Elements. This is the 3rd of his books I have tried. Each one has had wonderful shortcuts and settings information that make using the Adobe program much easier. You don't have to work through the whole book to learn just what you need to fix a problem either! 2008-11-02
