better than I expected
After having read the posted reviews (both positive and negative), I was cautious about buying this book. Hamilton's work has been sketchy in regard to the progression of each of her series. However, this book was better than the previous two. I like the premises of both of Hamilton's series, but they seem to slide downhill as time goes on. Given that, I enjoyed the development of the story (and the end, if it is the end), and given this book, I would in fact purchase the next. I took this out of the library but will be buying it to add to my collection. It would be nice if she could do something similar with the Anita Blake series, and I look forward to seeing if she can and will. 2008-12-08

Yeah! It's going somewhere!
I'm so happy I'm giddy. I didnt think Merry would EVER catch a break! Thank The Goddess she finally has! 1 year is too long to wait for the next one. *wah* 2008-12-08

Great Book
This book arrived really quickly. Although the book is new, I have some problems with whoever publishes Ms. Hamilton's books as the edges of the pages are rough and uneven. However, I buy these books because of the amazing writing skills of the author, not their look. 2008-12-07

Goblins just want you to hold them?
I really enjoyed the first part of the book. I have a thing for Sholto and any excuse for his golden eyed, many-tentacled presence is okay by me. Also it seemed like Merry might be able to seize control of all fairy by being the smartest fairy of them all.
Then it started to get a little confusing with the Fairies deciding they no longer cared about the government or staying in the USA. The battles were hard to follow because there were two people on the field of with hands of blood so there was a lot of bleeding. Also, we had a lot of soldiers having fairy induced PTSD. But I slogged through it.
And then it happened, the moment that LKH has been teasing us with for books, Merry was going to have sex with Ash and Holly. She was finally going to have sex with the gorgeous, identical twin, goblin/seelie half breeds. The sex, we had been warned, could get so out of hand that Merry had to negotiate for no permanent scarring. This would be sex act that so kinky and thrilling that Merry needed bodyguards to make sure that she, in orgasmic bliss, didn't agree to letting her lovers bite off something she might need later.
It turned out the goblin twins just wanted to cuddle.
That's right. All our goblins want is straight sex and to be held and stroked in a loving and supportive manner. What's more, Ash really enjoys giving oral sex, cuz he is sensitive even if it makes him less of a goblin. And more to the point, Ash and Holly both felt really, really bad when they heard that Merry's grandma died.
Laurell. Speaking for myself, I really am in it for the cheap thrills.
I am glad to know that there is more to the series, because we've spent 7 books with these characters with one goal, to have Merry make babies. Then to have the series ended before the babies are born would be bad. We at least need to know what color the babies eyes, hair and skin are and if they have tentacles.

I love Laurell K. Hamilton
I love all things Laurell K Hamilton, so it comes as no big surprise that this was yet another awesome book in the Merry Gentry series. I don't know where I would be if I didn't get my books from Amazon! This story was a excitingly chilling continuation of a great series. Thanks so much Laurell you are my #1 Favorite Author of all time and have been for many years.
