Brisingr (Inheritance, Book 3)

Purchased for my grandson. He loved the first two books, I hope this one is as good for him

The shipment is within the time defined. Of course we saved, by buying it here versus in the bookstore.

The story line is very good, although at times, the author gets tied up in long descriptions of places and things that have little bearing on the story. At over 700 pages the story could have been told well in about 400 to 500 pages. It almost like a student trying to please an overbearing Literature teacher by using as many words as possible thinking longer is better. Other than that I liked the story and the line it is following. I just don't need continuos descriptions of Saphira's shiny scales. At times it becomes monotonous.

I must admit overall I did enjoy the book and I really liked the cover. However on the negative side, certain sections did feel slightly padded to me and maybe I'm being pedantic but the chapters where Saphira was thinking/conversing with herself I found irritating. Why, when Saphira thinks to herself does she uses simplistic language i.e. The big round fire in the sky (sun), men-who-were-friends (Varden), but when she talks to anyone else she is able to speak normal English?

Otherwise this is still one of the better current fantasy series around.

Couldn't wait to get this book - couldn't put it down. Some new terminology, but still a very descriptive book. Would highly recommend this book. My review is a bit late in coming as I have only recently gotten around to reading it in peace!
