Nothing much to be gained either
This is not one of Lee Child's better Jack Reacher stories and is certainly less plausible than the others.

Disappointing - boaring
Not in pare with Lee Child's reputation, I believe he will make up for this one!

I have read every Jack Reacher book in sequence. Loved most, seriously liked the rest. Though the last few I thought Mr. Child was looking to end the series. He needs to. Jack has outlived his usefulness. Nothing to Lose is pure formula. Decent ending but it is time to end this series. If you must have it as I did, wait until you can borrow it from a friend or get a used paperback.

You want the writers to write only what YOU want????
All these reviews - nope, can't even call them that - the word "opinion" suits much better in this case, saying they don't like the latest Reacher because they feel Mr. Child inserted his politics? Hey. Perhaps, with politics being what it is today, and a war going on and all, just maybe Reacher finally noticed it all on his own. And what on earth gives any fan the right to tell a writer what to write?! I mean, I guess we have that right, but why on earth would we expect any writer to listen? Its THEIR work for us to enjoy. Or not. Do you really think Mr. Child's work would improve if he wrote only what some of you want him to write?! What about those of us who LOVED this latest book? There are some of us out there you know. Aside from all that - I just want the man to continue doing what he does, and does it better than a lot of others - write a story that entertains me. If the character has opinions, Hooray! If they're different than mine - so WHAT?!

Hungarian Reader
I read a few Lee Child book in hungarian language, but I wanted to use my english in some way, so a I tried reading english with this new novel. It was suprisingly easy to understand, thanks to the style of the author, and the style of the "hero" Jack Reacher. I suggest these books for other people, who want to practice the language.

The story is a typical Reacher adventure, he is traveling through the USA, when he has to stop in the hostile town of Despair. The local people, the police, the judge and the deputies treat him as a vagrant. They take him back to the city border, menacing him with jail if he returns. This threat, attitude is against his principles, so he goes back to Despair, to look after the town's strange secrets...

It's a good novel, read it!:)
