Karen Moning Does it Yet Again
I really loved this book, and read it in two days. I do not understand why the average review is only four stars from most people. Even though there were only four stars, I decided to read it and rate it my self.
I'm glad I did.
The book was awesome. I stayed up late reading it last night and this afternoon, and without giving away too much, I believe the author chose this book to let us more into Mac's anger, her rage, her tears, and yes her eroticism(especially where it concerns V'Lane and Jericho Barrons). Some people may not have great reviews of it because it lacked actual sex, or it was much action- well, what I have to say to that is, Moning stuck to the story. The adventure/quest is still on and I am loving the tension even more between Mac and Barrons. V'Lane may be fae but I am liking him too.
Basically to all those readers out there, you must embrace the beauty of the words in these books. Moning has a gift with words and she knows how to weave them so well. I definitely can't wait until Dreamfever.

Thank goodness this isn't the end
I waited for Faefever for ages as I have been a big fan of Moning for years. I sat down and read the book straight through without any breaks. Unfortunately, this book is just depressing and I hated the ending. If book four doesn't have something better, I know I'll skip book five. So - what was wrong? The series is rather dark and depressing. However, that is not necessarily a negative in itself. In Faefever, however, there is actually a lose of hope - and that is the clincher, I believe. When I finished the book, my first thought was to skip the rest of the series. However, after reading the authors web page and blogs, I have decided to wait until after book four to judge the series. If you haven't read books I and II, then whatever you do, don't start with this book. If you have read books I and II, you may want to skip this book. Sorry, Ms. Moning, this book is just too depressing. 2008-11-02

Great - keeps you guessing
So much satisfying foreshadowing. I never used to have any interest in the Fae (especially burned on the Merry Gentry series by LK Hamilton), but I was stranded with nothing to read during Hurricane Ike and became hooked on the series.I have also gone to her Highlander series and found clues about the world Mackayla Lane lives in. It has a fresh feel and humor to it.
(I love that I am posting this on Halloween, too.)
I love the slightly bewildered but dedicated and morally upright heroine, full of foilables and humanity. She is a bit of a cross between Sookie Stackhouse and Stephanie Plum, but very much a unique character. The format of recording a diary is not cheesy or distracting, as it could be in lesser hands. The series also brings out the hottest, most unconventional hero to life. I walk around looking for opportunities to utter "Well played" in conversation. The mysterious rules and politics of the Fae World keep a reader guessing, but not in dire frustration.
Although, it does seem like a very long time until the next installment hits the shelves. The author is prone to devastating, cliffhanger endings, but the wait does seem worth it.

Very disappointed
I was very disappointed with this book.
I enjoyed the first two books. I even gave them to my "fantasy book" loving son to read. Now I just have to explain to my 14 year old why I don't want him to read this one. I'm not ready for his questions. He'll ask about violence towards woman and I'll say, "Yea, son, all women who are gang raped have multiple orgasims during the ordeal".
Now I guess we get to watch Mac turn bad in Book 4 and good again in Book 5. How many years will that all take?
Besides George Lucas did that with Darth Vader already...

Just can't get enough of Mac!
The third of Moning's Fever series was a grab you by your throat read that did not lessen it's hold until the last page. Fae Fever is a continuation, a deepening of Mac's story. We are still left with more questions than answers after that ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE ending. I can't wait for book 4.
I liked several things about this book. Mac's tentative alliance with Dani and several of the sidhe-seers. The developement of her 'relationship' with Christian MacKeltar and her inventive working relationship with Inspector Jayne.
Plus there's V'lane and Barrons, her struggle with her addiction not to eat fae flesh and to basically stay alive.
I don't know what it is about these books, but when I start reading them I just can't stop. A must read! 5 stars!!!
