Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (Sisterhood of Traveling Pants)

I really enjoyed the first three books in this series. They were amazing and I was really looking forward to the fourth book. I was disapointed. The plot of all the girls was weak. Each of the characters changed so much I could barely reconize who they were. I would not recommend this book. The third book was a perfect end to the series and the fourth book was overkill. I would highly recommend the first three but skip the fourth. It's not worth your time.

This is the last book! After reading this one you will wish it could just go on forever its so good... can't wait for the movie!

In Forever In Blue, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants faces the struggles of growing up: of dealing with real-life, grown-up challenges, juggling jobs and schoolwork, and struggling with romance and relationships. The four best friends Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bee spend more time apart than together, and their link to each other is through the magical Pants.

In their final summer, Lena struggles with art school and a new crush after overcoming her heartbreak with Kostos, Tibby and Brian explore their relationship in greater detail, Bee goes on an archaeological dig in Turkey, and the once-buoyant Carmen gains twenty pounds and becomes invisible at college until she's unexpectedly cast in a professional theater production.

An upcoming sequel to the first Warner Brothers film, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, is largely based on Forever In Blue.

One major observation is that from its lighthearted origins about the summer adventures of four best friends, the tone is decidedly adult and pessimistic here. Several characters engage in sexual activity, and although the sex is not described in graphic details, the girls do reflect on the feelings (and sensations) that result, so this isn't appropriate for younger readers.

The stories were generally depressing, focusing on heartbreak and regret, manipulation, and depression. The climax was completely out of sync with the rest of the book, although the final message was solid: the girls didn't really need magic pants to bind them together, but their faith in each other. Several excellent quotes are sprinkled throughout the chapters, but overall, this isn't an appropriate novel for younger readers, and was a fairly pessimistic close to an original series.

I was so excited when I heard a new book was coming out, but was sad when I also heard it was the last one. I have grown and up come to love these characters, and as ridiculous as it sounds, I feel like I know them. I was always rooting for them and not to play favorites, but Bridget was my favorite. I always felt for her character more than I did for anyone else's. I have actually read the entire series four times and I'm starting to read it again from the first book for the fifth time. But I have to say, I have gone back and re-read all of Bridget's parts in every book about ten times, kid you not. And I can remember exactly what it says. I cannot lie that I am a die hard Sisterhood fan. I have seen the movie so many times I've had to buy two copies and I can also recite whole scenes from the movie from memory. Kinda sad isn't it? But I do have a social life thank you very much!!!

Yes, I agree this one was not as good as the others (I probably loved the third the best), but I still liked it. I was a bit disappointed with Carmen's story (I've always been kind of disconnected from her story) I liked everyone else's though.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series!!! It was so amazing. I learned from, cared for, and loved each of these characters. I am so sad to see the series end, but I guess the rest of their lives could me up to everyone's imagination.
