Still a Classic
While browsing books for my 21month old daughter, I came across "Corduroy," which I fondly remembered as one of my own childhood favorites... After receiving & reading it with my daughter, I could see why. The story of the little stuffed bear searching for his lost button so that someone will buy him & take him home is as endearing now as when I first heard it 35 years ago! The illustrations are simple but sweet, and the idea of a stuffed bear coming to life & roaming through the "palace" of a department store in which he lives is a fantasy that's appealing to readers of ANY age. There's even suspense; will the Night Watchman catch Corduroy before his quest is complete? Despite his modest and imperfect appearance, Corduroy is finally "chosen" by the little girl, Lisa, and he finds the true meaning of friendship, love, and "home." While the age-old message that external beauty doesn't matter & it's what's inside that truly counts could've come off as corny and/or cliched, Corduroy's story somehow keeps it charming & poignant-I guess thats why I remembered this book with such affection! 2008-05-04

gift for grandson
this book was had by his father, was lost so we got it for his son, wonderful, so happy with it. thank you 2008-04-24

Not what I thought it was going to be.
When I first stumbled upon this product I thought it was a board book of the original Corduroy story. On the website when I found the original (which is what I wanted) it had a link saying they also had this in board book form. So that's what I thought I was getting. I wanted board book for my 4-month-old son because they are more durable. But it's actually a book based on the character of Corduroy. Its' a boring story listing things Corduroy did that day. It jumps from one thing to the other and isn't really a story at all but rather a list of random errands. I was disappointed to say the least. 2008-04-13

A home is not complete without Corduroy!
This book is simply one of the sweetest books available. I carried the memory of this book with me all while growing it has a lovely lesson of kindness with the reminder to not overlook things just cause their imperfect. So when I finally became a mother and set out on my quest to find the best books available for toddlers I revisited "Corduroy" and just seeing my daughters face as she snuggled up to her own teddy bear captivated, I simply fell in love all over again with the story. Don't pass this book by! 2008-02-29

Neat Idea!
My bestfriend is having a baby in April and for her baby shower, instead of giving cards, we were all instructed to buy a book to start "Baby's" library. We were told to write a message to "Baby" in the book. I thought this was a really cute idea and had never heard of anyone doing it before! I picked this book because I remember it being one of my favorite books when I was growing up. I also got "Goodnight Moon" because it was my friend's favorite book. I figured this way "Baby" can have both of our favorite books to help get his/hers library started and it would be a neat little connection for us! 2008-01-31
