Board book version is disappointing...
This book is basically a primer about the bear; there's no story to speak of and the little African American girl is not in the book at all. I bought this book because I was looking for a more durable version of the original Corduroy for my toddler. I am seriously thinking about returning this as I was looking to add to our library of children's books featuring African American characters. Bottom line: this is a completely different book than the original Corduroy. Don't be fooled like I was.

That having been said...it probably is a pretty good "learn to read" book, the pages are nice and big and the illustrations are cute.

Old favourite
I bought this book as we had had it in our family as a paperback until it wore out. Seeing Amazon.com was offering it as a special discounted hard cover copy I bought it to share it with my granddaughter and hope she enjoys it as much as my own four boys did. It is a very poignant story about love and acceptance which, despite its unsophisticated illustrations, touchs the heart straight away. Recommended to all parents.

A Pleasant Classic
Kids love this one for it's low-octane "conflict," easy artwork, and happy resolution. This one belongs in any parent's library of the 100 books that will be on the kids' shelf.

Corduroy, The Brown Fluffy Bear
Corduroy by Don Freeman takes place in a department store. Corduroy, a brown, furry bear, is the main character. He lives in the toy department.
All the other toys find homes. It's a good book to read on a happy day.

This book is about a bear named Corduroy. One day, he finds out he has lost a button. Corduroy wears green overalls. The story is about his journey to find his button. Does he find the button? You'll have to read to find out.

Corduroy only thinks he wants something until the end. He said "I think I've always wanted to climb a mountain." He also said "I think I've always wanted to live in a palace and sleep in a bed." At the end he said "I've always wanted a friend." In my opinion Corduroy is so cute.

The setting is described in the illustrations. The illustrations look like
cartoons. Most young readers will like Corduroy. This book is appropriate for grades k-3. You should look for this book in the library.

In conclusion, Corduroy is a good book. Read it on a happy or sad day. You should read Corduroy. Even if you are in grade 5. Corduroy is a great book for all ages.

My first friend
Rejection due to appearances, first friendships, and the importance of home are all address in this wonderful book. The ending is perfect and makes you feel warm all over.
