Sink your teeth into this...
... a fine set of Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. What a refreshing point of view and burning light to see vampires in. Rice gives us vampires with feelings - why shouldn't a vampire feel joy, pain and regret? Yes, bottom line is they are merciless killers, but this is the all-too often typecast image of vampires that Hollywood likes to betray. These immortals don't just sweep in with a dramatic flare of their capes (most of the time they don't even wear one), kill then leave - we experience their agony, hunger, happiness and turmoil before and after each kill. Anne Rice gives us so much more - imagine YOUR fears, regrets and hopes from your lifetime spread over an eternity. Would you really want immortality? What is right and what is wrong? Good and evil? The devil and God? Leave your humdrum life behind for a while and bury yourself (literally) in a world of fascinating, real characters in sumtuous, historic or sordid surroundings. Enjoy, but remember to put the lid back across when you're finished... 2000-07-07

Take Lestat with you!
The first three Vampire Chronicles ("Interview with the Vampire", "The Vampire Lestat", "The Queen of the Damned.") in a beautifully designed keep case that resembles a coffin is a nice acquisition. Even that they are in an abridged version this does not disminishes its enjoyment. Besides they serve as a testimony to demonstrate how a story can be fit in two hours (Hollywood is adapting "The Queen of the Damned" and everything seems to indicate that it's going to be transformed into another version of "Buffy) 2000-05-09

Please give me more!
I have read all of her books and found the Vampire Chronicles to be her very best work. I had a hard time setting them down and wish there were more to read. I urge everyone to give them a try. Most definitely better than the movie! 2000-04-02
