Forged By Fire

Gerald and Angle's parents are two wild animals. Their mother Monique is a drug addict and her boyfriend is a physco, and always abuses them. As Gerald is growing up he's trying to get a good education but he also has to help Angle and himself survive living with Jordan and Monique. Forged by Fire is an action packed book when you know anything can happen at any given time, it's also a happy and sad book because thinking about what they have to go through in hard times.
This book makes you think of what kind of war the these two have to battle with Monique and Jordan. I give this book four stars because it is very well written and full of surprises, and also makes you want to read more and more of it. Sharon M. Draper does a great job of giving great details and adventure, she has made this book so addicting. And she also makes it seem like you are actually in the story as if you were living that life. I would highly suggest this book to anyone interested on reading it. Over all, this entire book was one of my favorites and I plan to read it plenty of more times.

Forged by Fire by Sharon Draper shows the story of a kid that has to deal with his problems and the problems of people around him. It is about a kid standing up to his abusive stepfather and protecting his family from his abusive stepfather.
When Gerald's mom (Monique) gets sent to prison for drug abuse, Gerald goes to live with his Aunt Queen in Cincinnati. Suddenly, Aunt Queen dies and Gerald has to go live with Monique since she was released from prison. He is now living with his Mom, His sister (Angel), which he didn't even know he had, and his stepfather (Jordan).
Gerald finds out that Jordan is an alcoholic. Every time Jordan got drunk, he would abuse Angel, Gerald, and Monique. Gerald just knew he had to do something about it. Therefore, one day he got the police to arrest Jordan because he was molesting Angel. They were having a good life without Jordan. When Jordan got out of prison he was acting extremely nice, but Gerald knew something was going to happen. The problem is going to be fixed for the last time.
I recommend this book to kids between the ages of 10-15. It shows hatred, sadness, and emotion. The emotion in this book is just incredible.
For anyone who likes adventure and "edge of the seat" books, you will love this book. In addition, you will like it if you have already read one of the "Hazelwood High Series" and liked it.

When Gerald's aunt dies unexpectedly, he is put into a completely new life where he is terrified to wake up every morning. Once his Mom comes back into his life, she surprises him with a new stepfather and stepsister. When he stares in the mirror every day, he sees the bruises that his stepfather has given to him from beating him.
In Gerald's horrible new life, all he has to cheer him up is his sunshine, his beautiful little sister Angel. When Gerald is done with dealing with what his stepfather does to his sister, he leaves to find a close friend, Mr. Washington, to talk to him about it. On the day of the court case thoughts rushed through Gerald and Angel's minds like a New York City traffic jam. After the trial was over, he was sentenced to six months in prison.
This book is great and I recommend it for anyone from the ages of 8-15. This book is not always happy, but overall it is an exceptionally well-written story. Sharon M. Draper really makes me appreciate the parents I have, and that they care about me and don't harm me. It's also a very exciting story though it is awfully sad. The way Draper writes this novel it made me feel like I want to cry. It is a very emotionally written story. She really touched the soft side of me when she wrote this book.

Forge by fire is like unraveling toilet paper, once you turn the pages it new thing are unraveled to you. Forge by Fire written by Sharon M. Draper is a book that has drama, dancing, violence, and sports. Gerald thinks that fire is a dancing friend until the fire is everywhere that he is looking. This poor boy gets his drug addict mother taken away and moves with his love aunt Queen. On the day before his 9th birthday, his Aunt Queen says, "that your mama wants to see you tomorrow with a surprised for you.
The next morning he hears yelling and the smell of pancakes. When he gets up to see, what it is it is his mom and her husband named Jordan and his little sister named Angel. He goes out side to play with his sister when he comes back in he sees that he has lost his Aunt Queen. Now forced to move in with his mom and his abusing step father Jordan.
To try to keep thing in order he does basketball and his sister takes up dancing, until his stepfather start touching his little sister and is sent to jail. When Gerald and Angel come back from practice, they see Jordan on the couch. He says he changed and everyone believes him except for Gerald. The theme of this book is courage because of Gerald must be a man and protect his sister. Read the book to find out more.

I liked the book, Forged by Fire, because its exciting and real. I think its exciting and intresting how Gerald deals with Jordan. I like how this book is real. The characters go through real problems and solve them real ways. I think it was a good idea for Gerald to tell his friends father and to have Jordan sent away. I also like how protective Gerald is of his younger sister,Angel. This is why I like the book, Forged by Fire.
