Sherry's Review
Parallel Journey's is about two young children, Alfons Heck and Helen Waterford. Although they were born only a few miles apart, their lives took totally different turns. Helen, is a young Jew struggling during the Holocaust. Alfons, on the other hand, is Catholic and a very persistant member of the Hitler Youth. While Alfons was throwing rocks through windows on the night of Kristallnacht,(The Night Of Broken Glass), Helen was in hiding with her family. This is a great book . It teaches you what really happened during the Holocaust from a child as turning into a grown-ups point of view. It kept me interested because I wanted to know what would happen next. I would recommend anyone to read this book. It keeps you very interested and it is very thrilling! 2000-05-12

A GREAT BOOK!
My name is Eric Nolan, I'm 14 years old and I have just finished a very good book, Parellel Journeys. It's a true account of life at a camp and as a Hitler Youth, which I think is a strong point, by showing you two sides of WWII. Another strong point is how it is written, not only was it part narration and quotes from the main characters that experienced that time, but also historical facts that follow the time given by the main characters during the war. Again this is a terrific book and I think the Jewish/Nazi point of view should be in one book more often. This book would be extremely appropriate for a history class, for the ages 12-15. 2000-05-12

Parallel Journeys
This book is about two people living in two very different worlds. One is a Jew who gets sent to a concentration camp and the other is a member of the Hitler Youth. One strong point was how the author put the book together, on a timeline of events. You get to see both sides of the story. It got me hooked because I was waiting to see what happened to them. I thought this was a very good book to read, especially if you want to teach kids about the Holocaust. 2000-05-11

Great Book
This is a great book. It contrasts the views of a Hitler Youth and follower and a Jewish Prisoner very well. If you are interested at all in the Holocaust, this book is a must read. It is filled with interesting and horrifying facts. The author arranged this book well 2000-02-11
