Edgar Allan Poe Audio Collection

Years ago, I was fortunate to see works as performed by Vincent Price and listen to an audio portion of some of his works. I was determined to obtain a collection of E.A. Poe's works in the audio. I was not disappointed and the memory's keep flooding back every time I hear a story about where I was. My innermost thoughts are also impinged upon by his visions and dreams.

I highly recommend that anyone interested in Edgar Allan Poe obtain this work as part of their collection or research.

I was surprised and extremely disappointed to find that this collection omits "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," "The Mystery of Marie Roget," and "The Purloined Letter." Quite an omission, since these are significant works and the only tales in which Poe's detective, Auguste Dupin -- the precursor of Sherlock Holmes and countless other detectives -- appears. If those stories are important to you, look elsewhere.

This 5 CD set ships without a track listing. There are 5 discs containing I don't know how many tracks and no way of knowing which track is which story or poem. I called Harper Audio, and they gave me the run around. Told me I didn't buy it from them. Said I had bought it from Amazon. So I said, "Harper Collins doesn't stand behind their product?" They gave another number at NYC Corp offices. I gave up. Emailed Amazon, and they kindly sent me another copy without any track listing.

If I want to listen to a particular story I have to get the book off the shelf find out the first words of the story, commit them to memory, and start searching through 5 CDs one track at a time till I find it -- provided the first line hasn't been abridged. This is ridiculous. I'm senting it back for a refund.

The cd is touted as unabridged but it isn't!! These are short stories...Poe reworked them to make them leaner and ever shorter at the end of his life...and they found a way to cut him!!!
