Awesome guide
Very helpful guide, despite having walkthroughs and guides online this one has pictured pages that is easy to guide through that can make your adventures in the wasteland easier. I'm a big time Fallout fan and this book is perfect for a collector's item along with my lunchbox and bobblehead. 2008-12-12

Amazing book
This book was amazing. It had all the information I could need on playing Fallout 3. The quests were all laid out in a plain style and really easy to read. 2008-12-12

Despite a couple of quibbles, a great game guide with a fine large map
As some have noted in their reviews, game guys seems to have become more and more afterthoughts, an additional way of generating some profit, but not worth expending any real effort on producting. This game book should serve as a model for all forthcoming games. Give us something that you can actually use!
I mentioned in my headline a couple of quibbles. First, I wish there had been an index. Although I could eventually find whatever it was I was worried about, it could sometimes be a chore. Second, the book is sometimes an odd blend of completely forthcoming and oddly vague. For instance, when you get to game's version of PLEASANTVILLE, you can get out without loosing any karma simply by following the instructions and either alienating or killing all the characters. If you, like me, like to play good characters, it is a terrible way to do things. The book tells me simply that I can end the whole thing by going into a particular house and activating the Chinese Invasion scenario. But it doesn't tell you how and figuring it out on your own is really, really tough. I finally gave up and went to one of the gaming boards to get the answer. I wish the book might have done something like a spoiler alert and post the answer to activating the scenario in upside down text.
But those two small complaints aside, this is a great guide to the game. The maps are exhaustive and frequently helpful. I was never able (i.e., patient enough) to find the GNR location until I studied the maps.
I definitely recommend this to those playing FALLOUT 3. The thing about FALLOUT 3 is that there are an almost uncountable ways of playing the game. You can focus exclusively on the central quest, max out your level in doing do, and end up skipping all but a tiny number of the game's side quests. The more I play the game, the more I'm amazed at how many such quests there are. This game will help you in getting there.
While I always play as a good character, I think the time has come to play a low karma character. Way too much of the game is focused on less than exemplary characters. Besides, I would love to hear what Three Dog has to say about 101 of he/she were evil instead of good. As I say, there is a LOT to the game and this book will help you access it.

An Extraordinary Guide for an Extraordinary Game
First of all, in all fairness, I haven't used the standar Fallout 3 guide. I can't tell you if it's better organized, more useful, or better quality.
However, I can say without a doubt that this is the most exhaustive and useful guide I have ever purchased.
I have never been much of a study guide fan. I had nothing against them, I just rarely found myself needing one. I'm pretty good at videogames, and if I ever did need to find something I looked it up online. After considering the size of Fallout 1 & 2 as well as Oblivion and Morrowing, I decided the guide would be a worthy investment. Plus, for only a few dollars more, I could get a look behind the scenes, something I enjoy.
So far, this guide has never let me down. The author used over 400 save files in creating this 500+ page guide, and his hard work shows. Every collectible item, every quest, ever random encounter, work bench, and perk are listed with instructions on obtaining and using them. There are thorough strategies for every quest, as well as strategies for building a character.
Fallout 3 is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of 2008, if not all time. This guide is the best way to experience everything this truly massive and immersive game has to offer.
