Provides the personal background of Bill O'Reilly
This book provides Bill O'Reilly's personal upbringing and why he became the individual that he did. Having grown up in the Catholic schools of the 1950s and 1960s like Bill did, this book brought back some memories of my experiences in grammar school and high school. His anecdotes about Clem and the other rabble rousers who he grew up with are especially interesting - reminds me a bit of the "Little Rascals" programs. He was a real trouble maker in grade school and high school and even on to college. The book is not just about these stories though, it provides a perspective on why he became the individual that he did. His chapter on "Fear" had a good perspective - people don't do the right thing because they are afraid of the possible results of their actions on themselves. Also, his chapter on "Evil" is very powerful - that there is in fact evil in the world. He goes through 5 examples and asks if these people are evil. Then, he states that this is why he continues to do what he does - to combat evil in the world. All in all, this is a very interesting book - one that was hard to put down. My daughter gave it to me for Christmas and I read it in two days (with all the distractions of the holidays). I highly recommend this book - but then again, I'm a great Bill O'Reilly fan, and always will be. Thank you, Bill for writing this book and hosting your program. It is the one program that I look forward to seeing every evening and this book highlights why. 2008-12-29

A book about a child written by a man with the mind of a child
If you're looking for wisdom, this is not the book for you. This is a great book for anyone that sees the world like a 5th grader. I kept expecting some kind of perspective or a sense of (dare I say it?) humility. Bill seems to be missing that gene. It's not the all-out propaganda that you get from his show, but it is the same narrow view of the world. 2008-12-28

A Great Read
This very informative book looks back at the way America used to be and how we have gone astray. I am a "boomer" and grew up when neighborhoods were safe and younger readers need to know that it is possible to return to this. While my generation can relate directly to Mr. O'Reilly, my hope is that younger citizens will desire a world like ours was for themselves and their families.

You laugh, cry and overall love this must read
Fox News sensation Bill O'Reilly opens the door to his past allowing the world to see why he is such a fierce and intriguing individual.
Those who go through this door will end up in some predicable and unexpected places.
Bill takes us to his catholic school roots where he was anything but a saint. We are introduced to a variety of his friends and family(spanning several decades) and of course Bill will give his opinion on much that has shaped him into his current self.
We are taken back to the radical 60's and 70's where Bill went against the grain of his mostly high cohorts. Old work and school chums are introduced. Bill even opens up to those who he has lost over the years and how that affected him. Bill talks about his escapades at club med (I was in stitches). Every experience is entertaining and a piece to the puzzle that's the man behind the No Spin Zone.
Overall this is fresh autobiography that balances humor and human nature well allowing the reader to always be craving more.
