GREAT book for medicine 3rd and 4th years
This book covers all the major topics, goes through a basic differential and work up. It's great for admitting patients on the wards. I use it constantly, and am just sad that I didn't buy it until 4th year! I'm sure it will serve me well during internal medicine residency also.

Best Companion Book for Internal Medicine Residency
Clear concise review of all essential topics encountered during Internal Medicine Clekship/Residency. Always found helpful during morning round discussions, in clinics and when admitting patients. Gives the most pertinent points regarding signs/symptoms, diagnostic tools and management with reference to latest published articles. Buying and reading this book would be the best investment you can make to your clerkship/residency.

FONT TOO SMALL
Pocket Medicine has useful information but the font is way too small. I appreciate that it is light in a white coat, but reading the tiny font gives me a headache. There is space in the margins so a larger font could have been used. The book needs to be reformatted to deliver the same information in a readable font. I also agree with other reviewers that $32 is too much.

Shockingly complete and thorough.
At my institution, virtually all of the students and housestaff that use a pocket manual use this one. Unbelievably complete and succinct, this book made my internal medicine clerkship much easier. I used this book every single day and found it to be the best book I have found for the wards to date. I only wish there was a surgical counterpart for this book.

The ONLY Book you need on the wards
I agree w/ many of the other reviews. This is a fantastic book for RESIDENTS, not medical students. It tends to gloss over basic information that any resident should already know. For that reason , the book is concise and has all the relevant info in order to manage patients. I also like the small notebook format, so I can add additional pages of info. I agree that this book does need a neuro/psych section to cover CVA/Seizures, delirium/dementia and ETOH withdrawal management. I've already worn my book out in the past two years and look forward to future editions. I have recommended this book to every intern I have supervised on the Wards...It is the only reference book I carry.
