Only for true fashionistas
I love Tim Gunn and think he is style personified. I purchased this book thinking that it would include his philosophy and advice for developing such style; however, for the most part the book is directed toward only true fashionistas. I don't know half of the people he refers to and the other half that I do recognize really have very little to do with my sense of style development. Mr. Gunn's book is witty and well written but simply not what I was hoping it would be. Again, if you are merely a casual observer of fashion, this book is NOT for you.

BUY THIS!!!
I think everyone should buy this book. It is a wonderful how to book without talking down or making you feel like a total fatso! I love Tim Gunn's wit and wisdom. What you see on Project Runway and his own TV show - is exactly what you get in the book. I read it in a week and I have 2 kids under 3! I would love to have seen Tim's SAT scores! You do have to read the book with a dictionary close by.

Great read!
I was suprised at the lack of pics or illustrations but the content was great. I learned a lot about posture and what to look for in clothes.

'ONWARD, CARRY ON, MAKE IT WORK, etc.'
I can hear Tim's voice in many of the sentences of this bright, informational book. What I appreciate about Tim's style of writing is the clarity of the message. He does not portend we should all shop at Neiman's - although we want to - but offers smart advice on the whole wardrobe kabal. There is also advice on posture, hair, etc. Projecting a look that is yours that lets quality, taste and style shine through is his aim! Now, carry on...

make it work
If you love Tim Gunn, and his make it work attitude from Project Runway, you'll like this book. After reading it, my first reaction was, huh, not much substance.....then I began to think about what he had written....which is basically, make it work. Stop buying junk you don't need & won't wear just because it's trendy or on sale.... pull out what you have that you love, add to it with more classic items that you love and Make it work!!
