Most readable book on understanding EKGs...ever!
Having borrowed numerous friends' copies in medical school to get a handle on what an EKG is, how it's created and how to read one, I decided it was time to get my own.
I'm currently studying for the USMLE Step 1 and this is an invaluable resource for understanding the above.
Not just for medical students, anyone interested in what an EKG is and what the squiggles mean would be well served to get this. The print quality is the highest (all the pages are heavy and glossy and it is color throughout). More importantly, the author breaks down the information in a step-by-step fashion to convey the information in layman's terms so that virtually anyone from any background can understand the information, not just healthcare professionals.
More reader-friendly than even the Dummy's series, this book is understandable and non-threatening, ensuring the reader has a grasp of the concepts through color drawings, diagrams, fill-in-the blank sentences and other learning tools.
I can't recommend it highly enough. If only all books on technical subjects were so friendly.

This is one you will keep
This is one of the few required books for my nursing program that I will not sell at the end of the semester. It is very easy to understand, and the author actually inserts brief quizzes and reminders to go back and study certain pages to link the knowledge together, helping you cycle through the material and retain it, rather than reading it once with little benefit. You actually can teach yourself using this book. I highly recommend it! 2008-02-08

Fun way to learn EKGs
Dubin's book on EKGs has a different approach that includes repetition of ideas, blanks for self-assurance, and a lot of review. The back of the book includes many strips for easy reference and review. Reading is enjoyable. The basics are covered first and pathology is covered last, from less challenging strips to more challenging. I got a lot out of this book. I had another EKG learning-book, which didn't compare to the fun and ease of learning that Dubin's book has. This book is good for future reference also. Buy and keep! 2008-02-08

Rapid Interpretation of EKG's
This book is an excellent resource for those just beginning to learn about electrocardiograms, those needing a review, or those with advanced knowledge (like myself). It is written in easy to understand terminology. It should be a must read book for nurses, doctors, and paramedics. 2008-02-08

A must have
I used the Dubin's 1st edition to supplement my own learning during my initial telemetry course. I now encourage our students to purchase their own 6th edition to supplement the classroom or on-line learning we provide. It is excellent for the entry level nurse or resident just starting out in health care, or as a reference guide for those who do not use their EKG interpretation skills often. The graphics provided in this edition are a visual plethora of information to lay down the basic rules of the skill. This seems to be one reference book that gets "borrowed forever", so the price is a fair investment. Definitely a keeper.
