The New Best Recipe: All-New Edition

I purchased this product as a gift - the person had specifically asked for this cookbook. I had originally gone to the Cook's Illustrated website to buy & couldn't believe the price of the book plus the shipping costs. To save on shipping, I went to a Barnes & Noble store and purchased the book for about $35.00. I was pleasantly shocked when I was told by someone to get the book through Amazon where it was considerably less expensive ... and if I spent a certain amount shipping was included. SOLD! Needless to say - the book was returned to Barnes & Noble. Anyone who buys this book through any other service but Amazon is wasting their money.

I have been cooking for years, but this is a must have for any cook.
I liked the testing processing explained. Very simple to follow and a great addition to my library.

My son checked out my copy and even bought himself one.

As someone who just started learning to really cook, this book is all the arsenal you need in the kitchen. Unlike the majority of cookbooks I have, where it simply lists the recipe and directions, I really appreciate the commentary before each recipe explaining how they got to this particular version of the recipe. There's a lot of discussion of "technique" in the book, as well as product reviews, such as skillets and saucepans. Everything I've tried has been amazing. The only caveat is most of these recipes do take a bit of time. There's a 3-minute version, which I might also pick up, since I don't have the patience to wade through the entire book to figure out WHAT'S a 30-minute meal. Overall, though, this book is amazing and worth its weight in gold!

I purchased this book aproximately three months ago and I have been cooking extensively from it with amazing results. When I got it, my level as a cook was relatively basic and by going through the recipes in this book and taking classes in a local institute, I can now cook relatively complex dishes with excelent, consistent results. I own a number of other books but this is always my main source. If a recipe is on this book (very likely as it is very comprehensive), I will probably pick it instead of using any of my other books.

America's test kitchen has made a great classic here.

I love this cookbook. I have had it for several years and reach for it again and again. The Butterscotch Cream Pie recipe is worth the $ all by itself. It is one of my favorite books to give as a gift.
