A Great Addition to Sister's of the Quilt Series
Hannah Lapp's baby is dead, and she believes her fiance, Pall Waddell has rejected her. Fleeing from the anger and condemnation of her family and community, Hannah goes to her shunned Aunt Zabeth, in Ohio. She has a new life, new friends, new work. Aunt Zabeth is delighted to have her and Hannah enjoys the freedom of the Englischer life, but she misses her home and family. She misses Paul too, but she's met a man to whom she is attracted. One who is willing to accept her as she is.
Back home, the people who rejected her are forced to face their own behavior and the way they treated Hannah. The person most affected is her sister, Sarah, who becomes less connected to reality every day. Although Hannah doesn't want to return to her family, she may not have a choice.

Cindy Woodsmall has a gift for capturing the essence of the Old Order Amish and Mennonite communities. When The Morning Comes is an intriguing story about a young woman who has lived through great tragedy and survived. Full of emotion, conflict, and faith, it's a great addition to the Sisters of the Quilt series.

Excellent book
I highly recommend this book! I would suggest you read the first of this three book trilogy, When The Heart Cries, before you read this book.

Disappointment
After a mind blowing first book- When Cries the Heart, the second novel, When the Morning Comes is a true disappointment. The book is a like a bad soap opera. The author seems to be throwing in as many bad twists and turns as she can fit in. The book could have been great with out all the melodrama added.

If you are looking for another great book, try Jodi Picoult, Plain Truth.

Beautiful Amish Story
I just finished this book this week and can't wait for the sequel. It is beautifully written and kept me up way past by bedtime! I loved it!

Super sequel in this Amish series
Reeling from the attack on her person and the subsequent abandonment by her fiance, family and community, Hannah Lapp has fled to Ohio in hope that she can begin a new life with her shunned aunt. Meanwhile, back in Owl's Perch, Hannah's community is trying to piece themselves back together, as individuals come to grips with the truth of what really occurred. As Hannah finds purpose in the English world, many of the people of Owl's Perch must deal with their own secrets.

It was with much anticipation that I waited for this sequel to When the Heart Cries. What was to become of Hannah? What of her family and her fiance? I tore into this book with great relish. Cindy Woodsmall didn't disappoint. She writes characters that take on flesh and find their way into her reader's hearts.

I am going to take a big risk and assume that readers of Amish novels are also familiar with Science Fiction movies. I would equate this book with The Empire Strikes Back of the Star Wars trilogy. If it was the only movie in the series you watched, you would wonder why Luke was in his predicament and how Han Solo would get out of his. As it has been a year since I've read When the Heart Cries, I couldn't quite zero in on the full story even though Cindy provided a detailed sketch of characters at the beginning. I am thankful that she didn't rehash backstory within the novel, but I did have trouble anyway and wished I had gone ahead to re-read the first book. And, though there is a great story within the cover of When the Morning Comes, it is left absolutely unresolved--like Han Solo in the carbon (Star Wars).

Although this is a fantastic book, you'll want to read the first one first. Meanwhile, I eagerly anticipate the third!

Armchair Interviews says: Heed reviewer's advice to read these books in sequence.
